This article investigated the students’ responses to narrative text through the animated film. The place of this study was one of the public schools in Yogyakarta Province. The subject of this study was eleventh-grade students. This study was implemented in three phases, e.g., the reconnaissance process, cycle one, and cycle two. The stages conducted in this study contained four steps: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Moreover, the type of data of this study was qualitative data. The technique of collecting data used in this study was the observation checklists and interview guidance. Furthermore, the technique of analyzing this study's data used descriptive statistics and descriptive analysis. AbstractThe objectives of this research are to find out whether or not using animated film in writing narrative text is effective and to know how far was the effectiveness of using animated film in writing narrative text. Related to the subject of the study, the researcher used pre-experimental method. The research was conducted at SMPN 4 Singkawang in Academic Year 2017/2018. The population in this reseach was the eighth grade students of SMPN 4 Singkawang. The total number of population was 233 students. The sample was VIII C class which consists of 32 students. This study is entitled “The Effectiveness of Using Animation Movie Compared to Conventional Method in Teaching Narrative Writing.” The purpose of this paper is to know whether or not there is a significant improvement in the students’ narrative writing after using the animation movie. The participants involved in this study were 60 pupils in tenth grade senior high school of SMAN 1 Parongpong, Bandung. Section C composed of 28 pupils, while the section D composed of 32 pupils. Section C was taught using conventional method while section D was taught using animation movie. The aim of this research was to find out the effectiveness of short animated movie of folktale in teaching writing narrative text to eleventh grade students of SMAK Abdi Wacana Pontianak in academic year 2018/2019. This research used Pre Experimental in one group pre-test and post-test design. The researcher took the sample by using cluster random sampling to determine the participant of research which consisted of 26 students. The data was collected by using measurement technique in form of writing test. Through written test,it can be revealed that short animated movie of folktale increased students’ achievement in writing narrative text. The findings showed that the effect size of the treatment was 1.1. It was categorized as a very strong effect (ES > 0.8). Teaching the English narrative genre text writing had become more challenging than ever because the students did not learn enough on English writing so the teacher needs to be creative and innovative in teaching learning. This paper investigates the effect of animation short film on the writing ability of students in narrative genre text. The objectives of the study were to identify the effect and the perceptions of the students on the use of animation short film in narrative text writing ability. The researchers employed a convergent parallel mixed method design and the data collected by using writing assessment test and questionnaire. Furthermore, the participants were 36 students who come from one of the senior high school in Ciamis regency, West Java province. The collected data were analyzed by quantitative and qualitative research design. The results of the study show that there is a significant effect on students' narrative text writing ability after having learning treatment by using animation short film, and there are positive perceptions on the usage of animation short film in narrative text writing. Thus, the conclusions are the animation short film can improve students' ability in writing narrative text. This study recommends students to improve their narrative text writing ability and then publish their work in the journal.

This study was classroom action research. The aim of this study was to investigate animation pictures whether or not can improve students’ writing skill in writing descriptive text at grade VIII A of SMPN 15 Kota Bengkulu. An animation picture is simply a series media of still photos shown through a slideshow, show steps in a progress, or movements of pictures. It is useful for the teacher to make effective media, and add interest to the teacher’s teaching. And also the students would be motivated what they want to write. The aim of this study is to determine the reflections of the values covered in the curriculum program of the social studies courses in the animated film scripts through the eyes of children. To this end the qualitative research method was adopted and phenomenology technique is used in the study. The participants of the study are twenty-seven seventh grade students attending a public school during the school year of 2018-2019 spring semester. In order to reveal their perceptions about the values covered in the curriculum program of the Social Studies course creative writing activity was used. The animation movie scenarios developed by the participants constitute the documents of the research. These documents were analysed through the content analysis. The findings indicate that twelve values covered in the curriculum program of the course were used by the participants as core values: scientific literacy, savings, solidarity, peace, respect, honesty, freedom, equality, justice, helpfulness and patriotism. Of them the most frequent used value is found to be the value of scientific literacy. As a result of the analysis of the data, it was found that the basic values in the scenarios developed by the participants are associated with all the values covered in the educational program of Social Studies course, but they mostly prefer the value of freedom.

In accordance with the problems faced by the eleventh graders in SMA Negeri 5 Palembang, this study is intended to increase the students’ writing motivation and narrative writing achievement by using English animation films as the instructional media. In this study, writing English narrative test and questionnaire were utilized as the research instruments. From 330 the eleventh graders, 66 of them were selected by using purposive sampling and divided into 2 groups; Experimental and Control. Based on the data analysis, the result showed that the use of English animation films significantly increased the students’ writing motivation and writing narrative texts achievement. The background of this research is the students who have difficulties in writing narratives and having low grades. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of using animated film media and basic knowledge towards narratives writing skill of the V grade elementary school students in SDN 11 Kurao Pagang. The type of this research is quasi experiment. The population was all of fifth graders with 40 students. The sample was taken by using purposive sampling technique. The data was collected by using basic knowledge test and narratives writing test. Data analysis techniques that were used are normality test, homogeneity, and hypothesis about the subject under study. The result showed that: (1) students' narratives writing skill by using animated film media is higher than using serial image with the calculation of t count = 2,486 and (t table = 1,68); (2) Narratives writing skills of the students who had high basic knowledge using animated film media is higher than serial image with the calculation of t count = 1,838 and (t table = 1,72); (3) Narratives writing skills of the students who had low basic knowledge using animated film media is higher than serial image with the calculation of t count = 1,829 and (t table = 1,72); (4) there was no a significant interaction between basic knowledge and animated film media towards narratives writing skill with the calculation of F count = 0,345 and (F table = 4,11). Based on this present study, there was an effect of animated film media and basic knowledge towards narratives writing skill of V grade students in SDN 11 Kurao Pagang.This study can be proposed as a rationale that animated film media and basic knowledge can improve narratives writing skill. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian ekperimen semu; nonequivalent control group pre-post test design. Sampel penelitian adalah kelas X.1 dan X.2. Kelas X.1 merupakan kelas control yang diajar dengan menggunakan picture story sedangkan kelas X.2 merupakan kelas experimen yang diajar dengan menggunakan animated films. This research originated from the low skills of grade IV SDN (public school) 1 Sigli students in writing short stories. Learning media to write short stories is an alternative means of delivering material to students through animated film media. This study aims to determine the improvement of short story writing skills using animated film media in fourth grade students of SDN 1 Sigli.
